How do I find the farm?
Since there is no mobile reception in the mountains, please download offline maps via Google Maps and review our detailed directions before you depart.
What is the best time of year to visit?
It depends on your preference!
- May to September: Offers mild days and crisp, cold nights—perfect for hiking.
- December to March: Is our rainy season. While it is hot, you may get to see the desert come alive with green growth and flowing springs.
Are there really "moving mountains" here?
Yes! The Naukluft is world-famous among geologists because the top layers of the mountains (nappes) actually slid 80km into their current position millions of years ago. You can see these distinct layers of dolomite and shale clearly from the valley floor.
Can I see wildlife on the farm?
Absolutely. Our farm is home to Hartmann’s mountain zebra, kudu, oryx, and klipspringers. We are also a birdwatcher’s dream, thanks to our permanent water springs that attract rare species like Rüppell’s parrot and Verreaux’s eagle.
How does the "rain shadow" affect my stay?
Our farm sits in a protected valley. Often, you will see clouds over the surrounding peaks while it remains sunny at the farmhouse. This "rain shadow" makes our weather unique and our rainfall precious—every drop counts!
What should I bring for food?
We are a self-catering destination. While we provide a fully equipped kitchen and BBQ facilities, please bring your own meat and alcohol. Our small on-site shop stocks basics like pasta, rice, and fresh seasonal greens from our garden.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes! While there is no cellular signal in the mountains, we provide complimentary Wi-Fi at the farm so you can stay connected with loved ones or download your next route
